As appropriated by the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act 2013, and issued by the Department of Homeland Security: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, HMGP 4285 funds were made available to provide resources to assist states, tribal governments, territories and local communities in their efforts to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insurable under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) as authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended.


North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) will be utilizing FEMA funds for the activity: Acquisition (2), in Robeson County.  Robeson County is proposing acquisition, and this will consist of the property and land being acquired, then demolished, with the land remaining as open (green) in perpetuity.

  • 500 Block of Mitchell Street, Fairmont


Any individual, group, or agency disagreeing with the proposed projects and is wishing to comment on these projects may submit written comments to NCEM Hazard Mitigation Branch, Attn:  EHP Specialist, 4238 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC  27699-4238.  All comments received by August 30, 2020 will be considered by the EHP Staff.
